I had my food diary looked at.
Turns out I'm a carb addict. I really did think my diet was better than it is.
I'll write more about my food diary in an upcoming News & Record article. But in the meantime, I'm trying to focus on eating less carbs and more protein.
Any suggestions?

Who analyzed your food diary to tell you that you're a carb addict? I'm just curious.
No matter, I'm one too.
I try to restrict nearly all of my carb consumption to one meal a day. Basically Atkins all day until supper and then a balanced meal for supper (about 1/3 protein, 1/3 carb, 1/3 non-carb veggie). That's what was laid out in the Carb Addict's diet, and I found it very effective for me (certainly not for everyone).
I am the food diary analyzer!
Amy's really on the right track, overall, but loves crackers and rolls of any kind (of which are usually not whole grain!)...I tend to think these refined carbs are making her life more difficult - putting her on a hunger roller coaster throughout the day.
But the situation isn't as bad as she is saying, she just has some fine tuning to do!
Can't wait to see the article!
Amy, I miss bread so much I could scream. Bread, rolls, bagels, croissants, you name it. I know that whole grain is OK, but of course a lot of yummy things are not whole grain! I wish I had some good advice there, but I don't. I tell you, I don't miss potatoes or rice or pasta. But bread... I never stop missing bready things.
Crackers are easier for me... I have substituted almonds for all snacks. I have 20 roasted-salted almonds mid-morning and another 20 mid-afternoon. I buy them in bulk at CostCo to save a bit of money.
Yeah, I'm definitely trying to think a lot more about what I'm eating. And weirdly, I'm also hearing Andrea scream in the back of my mind, "Protein!!" :)
Dawn - I dreamed about an English muffin last night. That's really kind of pathetic but it's true.
